Anchorage

Anchorage
Since 1975 I've been showing and telling people about Alaska. A good place to begin is the log cabin Visitor Information Center in the heart of downtown Anchorage. One neighborhood park, still in the making, is Chugach Foothills Park.

Glenn
Glenn Highway

Glenn Highway
This highway branches off the Alaska Highway. It is the most direct route to Anchorage from Canada. Tour destinations along this route include Palmer (and the Alaska State Fair) and Hatcher Pass. More are coming.

Parks
Parks Highway

Parks Highway
This highway route between Anchorage and Fairbanks was named for George Parks. The name seems like a natural because there are so many parks along the way, including Denali National Park, Denali State Park, Nancy Lake Recreation Area and Big Lake.

Seward
Seward Highway

Seward Highway
The highway that connects Anchorage with Seward is a national scenic byway. Among its many attractions are Portage Glacier and Turnagain Arm. Mt. Alyeska ski area and the historic gold mining village of Hope connect to it by short, scenic highway spurs.

Sterling
Sterling Highway

Sterling Highway
The Sterling Highway branches off the Seward Highway at Tern Lake Junction and heads for Homer, with access to Kenai Lake, the Kenai River, and the many attractions of the lower Kenai Peninsula.
